What do big-city mayors want?

What do the big cities want?

Mayors from the state’s biggest municipalities will get together in Raleigh on Thursday to talk about what they want from the General Assembly in the upcoming session.

While they’re there, they will also present awards for leadership in transportation legislation to state Sen. Kathy Harrington, a Republican from Gastonia; Sen. Bill Rabon, a Republican from Southport, and Rep. Ric Killian, a Republican representing Mecklenburg County. Jim Trogon, chief operating officer for the state Department of Transportation, will also be honored.

Mayors and city managers from the state’s 28 largest cities are expected to attend the lunch meeting at the Raleigh Convention Center.
