Welcome the Dome correspondents

The Dome logoYou may have noticed a few new bylines on Under the Dome.

Since last week, the Legion of Dome has been joined by five correspondents who will help us cover the 2008 gubernatorial primaries and other political news this winter.

They were chosen through a partnership with UNC-Chapel Hill's journalism program.

Karin Dryhurst, a senior, previously worked for The Greensboro News & Record and The Miami Herald.

Sam Wineka, a senior, previously wrote music reviews, columns and local features for The Daily Tar Heel, the campus newspaper at UNC.

Cori Sue Morris, a senior, previously interned with National Geographic News.

Matt Tomsic, a junior, has worked as a reporter at The Daily Tar Heel and The Lumina News in Wrightsville Beach.

Emily Stephenson, a sophomore, is a staff writer at The Daily Tar Heel, and previously wrote features at The Daily Reflector in Greenville.

Re: Welcome the Dome correspondents

With five fine UNC journalism students joining The N&O's Dome roster, that Duke political science prof running for governor as a Libertarian, Michael Munger, is about to learn first-hand about newspaper "home cooking recipes" for political pot luck dishes.

Lesson One for Professor Munger is remember to refer to each Duke-Carolina basketball game not as "the Carolina game" but rather "the Duke game."
