Unemployment trends in NC

The recession has hit everybody hard in North Carolina, but the job market has been particularly difficult for African Americans, according to a new study.

A new survey found that white unemployment in the Tar Heel state was 9.2 percent, compared with 14.8 percent for blacks for the first quarter of the year, according to the Economic Policy Institute, a Washington-based liberal think tank, reports Rob Christensen.

But unemployment has been rising slightly faster for whites during the recession.

At the beginning of the recession in the last quarter of 2007, the unemployment rate for whites was 4 percent in North Carolina, while the unemployment rate for blacks was 8.2 percent.

Re: Unemployment trends in NC

Actually I have been a registered independent all my life. And the fact that you say this when I flat out state I don't really care for either party and I'm not sure the other would have done any different leads one to believe that you refuse to see anything bad about Democrats, ever. Drink much Kool-Aid?

Kevin_Smith5 just filed to be an Indy everyone!

Just saying. It matters. He says so in posts while criticizing Democrats.

Re: Unemployment trends in NC

He makes a valid point. From a actual legislative standpoint it has been several years since anything but Democrats have had any influence on anything in NC. Federal funding and state funding has been controlled by one party for awhile, whether another party would have done anything differently is debatable (as an independent I'm not to fond of either major party, they both seem pretty bad).
