UNC to host former Rep. Goode

In the wake of the disruption of former Congressman Tom Tancredo’s speech, conservative groups plan to bring to Chapel Hill next week another major critic of illegal immigration.

Former Rep. Virgil Goode if Virginia is scheduled to speak at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on Wednesday April 22nd at 6:30 p.m. at Gardner Hall, Rob Christensen reports.

Goode has been invited by the same campus group, Youth for Western Civilization, who brought in Tancredo, who was prevented from speaking on Monday night by protesters. His speech is being arranged by Team America, Tancredo's political action committee.

The subject of his talk is "Hate Speech, Free Speech and the Multiculturalism."

UNC Chancellor Holden Thorp apologized to Tancredo for the disruption.

I hope UNC is prepared

There may be quite a few non-students attending this event. I found this copy of a mass e-mail by Tancredo on the ALIPAC Forum:

Dear friend,

I would like to thank all of you who have expressed your concern and outrage to me in response to the violent protesters who shut down my speech at the University of North Carolina last week.

The brave students who invited me are following up by bringing my friend, former Congressman Virgil Goode, to campus tomorrow. Virgil will speak on the suppression of free speech in the immigration debate, and also try to finish my talk on illegal immigration that was stopped short by the protesters.

If you are in the North Carolina area, I hope you can make it. Here are the details. Please note the new location.

Who: Congressman Virgil Goode
When: April 22, 2009; 6:30 PM
Where: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Graham Student
Union -- map and details at

If you have any questions about the event, please contact Riley Matheson at (336) 287-8865, or jmatheso@email.unc.edu

Thanks for all your support,

Tom

Keep your fingers crossed, people. This could get ugly.

Re: UNC to host former Rep. Goode

well goodgollygosh why didn't I think of that, oh yeah I did try that but was unsuccessful finding the information I was looking for. But thank you for showing me the opening to the super secret portal. :)

Re: UNC to host former Rep. Goode

Any way to get this kind of information?

Not to overstep any bounds, but I've recently discovered and successfully used a super secret portal of information set up years ago located here.

Re: UNC to host former Rep. Goode

Ryan is it possible to get a breakdown of the students at Carolina? How many are actual NC natives? Is there a way to know how many from each state and other countries? I would also like to know where the students were from that behaved so badly the other day. Any way to get this kind of information?

Re: UNC to host former Rep. Goode

I hope no bad people show up.

Re: UNC to host former Rep. Goode

I was kind of hoping they would bring Vernon Robinson instead.

Re: UNC to host former Rep. Goode

I am against illegal immigration but those kids at Carolina should give old Virgil a listen. If just listening to him speak doesn't crack them up nothing will. Virgil's speaking voice could grate on even his own mama's last nerve.
