Transition team on taxpayer's dime

The state's payroll has added nine people since Gov.-elect Beverly Perdue began picking people to run her transition to power.

One of the first of what Dome promises will be many, many public records requests to the Perdue administration was for a list of transition team members who are paid by the state and how much they are making.

For comparison's sake, the monthly salary figure is followed by an annual rate in parenthesis.

Christy Agner: transition aide, $4,650 ($55,800)

Meghan Brown: transition aide, $2,650 ($31,800)

Tim Crowley: Communications Director, Inauguration, $6,125 ($73,500)

Justin Guillory: transition aide, $2,900 ($34,800)

David Kochman: Communications Director, $9,600 ($115,200)

Jackie Kohler: human resources, $4,000 ($48,000)

Kennetha Smith: transition aide, $2,650 ($31,800)

Bradford Sneeden: transition aide, $2,500 ($30,000)

Maggie Stewart: transition aide, $2,500 ($30,000)

Re: Transition team on taxpayer's dime

O Alterac, you spent all year talking junk about PPP's polls and even after we were proven to be right about everything you still can't admit you were wrong and need to resort to personal attacks. Sad.

Speaking of that, Ryan, who were the winners of the Dome Office Pool?

Re: Transition team on taxpayer's dime

Easy for Tom Jensen to be so critical. Justin Guillory gave Jensen his job at PPP, and he likely has a nice posh appointment waiting for him in Perdue's Administration as well

Re: Transition team on taxpayer's dime

I don't see how anyone could complain about the salaries these people are getting. Instead of any complaints we should be hearing about what a bargain we are getting for these workers services. These salaries are incredibly below market rates. Kudos to Team Perdue!!

Re: Transition team on taxpayer's dime

These comments are ridiculous. Don't you all want Perdue, whether you like her or not, to be ready to hit the ground running when she takes office? There is a ton of work that needs to be done to ready the new administration and it's not going to do itself. This is not an unreasonable quantity of staff, nor is their compensation unreasonable. Save the cries of pork and corruption for something else.

Re: Transition team on taxpayer's dime

Nothing ever changes on Lane Street. She is just as immoral and corrupt as all her cronies. I cant believe the good people of this state elected her. We're all going to pay.

Re: Transition team on taxpayer's dime

So when do we get to see the job descriptions for all of these "transition aides?" The Dems are already at work! Here our state is in an extreme deficit, so what's the answer...add more pork.
