The schoolteacher vs. the safety?

Former Carolina Panthers safety Mike Minter may run for Congress.

One of the most popular players in the franchise's history, Minter recently returned from a two-day visit to Washington, where he surveyed the political scene.

The registered Republican told a reporter he may challenge first-term Democratic Rep. Larry Kissell, a former schoolteacher. First, he plans to check with his family and his pastor.

"My thing right now is trying to find the best way I can help people achieve what they need to achieve," he said. "This is just another option that was thrown on the table for me to look at."

Minter is currently involved in several religious and charitable activities and will play the lead role in the upcoming movie, "Sins of Ashe County." (AP

Re: Minter

Rep. Kissell may be in the classroom pretty soon. Hey maybe now, he can teach science and social studies.

Minter

might want to have a good answer to explain why he has only bothered to vote once since he registered in 2004. Sounds like the guy has some impulsivity problems.

Oh Gosh by Gosh, I did not notice your displeasure when Cooper, on the taxpayers dime, went to Washington to talk to the Democrats and Obama about running against Burr. Your hypocrisy is showing.

First, he plans to check with his family and his pastor.

Actually, I think he's checking with them second as he consulted Republican leaders at the NRCC for two days first.

Just think, it was only one year ago today that Mike first appeared on the 700 Club admitting he got into Christianity for all the wrong reasons...

Mike tried to make a deal with God, “I’ll go to the Bible study if you heal me and put me back on the football field,” he said.

Maybe Republican Leader John Boehner made a better offer to be a Republican.
