The NCGA Final Two

Phil HaireForget the NCAA for a moment.

Tonight will see the N.C. General Assembly — the NCGA? — play its own version of the March Madness sweeping college basketball.

The game will be in Columbia, S.C.

Rep. Phil Haire, a Sylva Democrat, organized this year's lineup, a bipartisan squad known more for passing bills than basketballs.

House Chaplain Jim Harry accurately summarized the pre-game mood when he called upon a higher power to be with the North Carolina squad.

"Please remind them they're not 20-year-olds running up and down the court," Harry intoned.

More after the jump.

Haire — who is not yet known as "Psycho P" — promised his House colleagues a full report of the on-court action tomorrow. On Tuesday he hyped what promises to be a slow paced battle between legislative basketball teams.

"March madness has peaked," he told his House colleagues.

The North Carolina roster includes:

* Rep. David Lewis, a Dunn Republican.

* Rep. Ty Harrell, a Raleigh Democrat.

* Rep. Bryan Holloway, a King Republican.

* Rep. John Blust, a Greensboro Republican.

* Rep. Pryor Gibson, a Wadesboro Democrat.

* Rep. Nick Mackey, a Charlotte Democrat.

* Sen. Andrew Brock, a Mocksville Republican.

* Sen. David Rouzer, a Johnston County Republican.

* Rep. Randy Stewart, a Rocky Mount Democrat.
