Team America endorses Jones

The Team America PAC is endorsing U.S. Rep. Walter Jones.

The Farmville Republican is running against former Onslow County Commissioner Joe McLaughlin in the GOP primary.

In a release, the political action committee said it is supporting Jones because of his stances on immigration.

"Since he was elected in 1994, Rep. Jones has been a leader in the immigration battle, always standing with Tom Tancredo in his battle to secure the border and enforce the laws," said Bay Buchanan, chairman of Team America and sister of Pat Buchanan, in a statement.

Team America PAC was founded by former presidential candidate and U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo in 1999 to oppose amnesty and support border security. It is not related to the movie of the same name.

Tancredo for President? No wonder he got out quick. I can understand the confusion of Team America. Jones and Gilchrest are look alikes and so are McLaughlin and Harris. Both are tough on winning the Iraq War and Immigration. Tancredo saw Jones'Immigration postcard and probably said; "Wow I didn't know North Carolina looked like Oklahoma!". Score one for Norquist.

Jones is staking his campaign on the immigration issue but his Republican primary opponent Joe McLaughlin is just as strong in the committment to secure borders. Walter expects Republicans to forget that he voted against the surge and still doesn't support it, forget that he wants to impeach the President and forget that he votes with the Dems on all their pork barrel projects. We won't forget Walter. Time to pack your bags.
Also, hard to take this as a glowing endorsement of Jones when they list his opponent as Andy Harris. (Harris knocked off Walter's RINO buddy Wayne Gilchrest in Maryland) WKnowing the Dome's love of pointing our spelling errors, surely they will mention an endorsement that gets the candidate's name wrong.
