Teachers union gave to Alliance for N.C.

A national teachers union is also helping pay for ads attacking Pat McCrory.

According to forms filed with the State Board of Elections today, the National Education Association's Fund for Children gave $250,000 to the Alliance for North Carolina, a 527 group running ads against the Republican gubernatorial nominee.

During the Democratic primary, the NEA and its local affiliate, the N.C. Association of Educators, paid for a mailer attacking state Treasurer Richard Moore

The N.C. Association of Educators also endorsed Beverly Perdue, who won the primary and now faces McCrory.

As previously reported, the Democratic Governors Association gave the Alliance $500,000 as well.

The Alliance has already bought $450,000 in air time for a TV ad that attacks McCrory's positions on the minimum wage, pay raises for Charlotte leaders and community college tuition.

The forms show it has also spent $15,000 on legal and consulting expenses, leaving it with $285,000 in cash on hand — enough for another, slightly smaller round of ads.

Without the bonus money, how can teachers give money to the NEA?

Where else does the NEA get the money?

Re: Teachers union gave to Alliance for N.C.

Wow, what a surprise! The teachers unions will never support someone who would make them give us the bang we deserve for for our buck. They want more bucks thrown into the pot to keep the same old broken down system running as is. Problem is most teachers pat themselve on the back instead of kicking the butts of those who can't teach or just like a lazy status quo. What we need is more administrators as well as NC or Federal Govt. and Union folks telling us what we need.
