State lost 787 a long time ago

Gov. Beverly Perdue said she was not surprised that the Global Transpark missed out as a site for a production facility for Boeing's 787 Dreamliner.

"North Carolina has not been on the short list for this facility for several months," Perdue said during a telephone news conference from China, where she is on a trade mission, Rob Christensen reports.

Boeing CEO Jim McNerney has announced that the company had narrowed its choices for the second Dreamliner assembly line to Everett, Washington and Charleston, S.C.

But Perdue said there still are ongoing talks with Boeing about them building other facilities in the state. She said plans to meet with Boeing officials within the next two weeks.

"It ain't over til it's over," she said.

While I think it would be great if we got these jobs, there are a couple of thousand former Boeing employees in the Seattle area that are hurtin' real bad. The company owes them a second chance.

Come home from China

Stop wasting our tax money in China. Come home. Or, better yet, maybe the Communists will keep her and put her into slave labor camps like they do their dissidents.

She'll probably want to pay Boeing to come here, just like Dell and Google. How long did they last? Let's stop paying to play. It isn't worth it. Corporate welfare is bad news for tax payers. So-called incentives must be stopped.

Let us educate our lawmakers and public, so they don't think they are voting for "jobs" when they are up against this madness.
