Senator Burr rooting for NY Giants in Super Bowl

U.S. Sen. Richard Burr says he's a fan of quarterback Eli Manning and that he will be rooting for the New York Giants to beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI.

"I’m not a big patriots fans," he said.

The Winston-Salem Republican played football at Wake Forest University. He said if the Giants can play defense like they did in the second half of the season, it'll be a low scoring game. If not: “Tom Brady is good enough to pick them apart and it’s going to be an unbelievable air war.”

“My only prediction is this is either going to be the most boring Super Bowl game we’ve seen and somebody’s going to win 7 to 3 and John Fox will say ‘this is the kind of game I love’ because that’s how he always planned the Panthers to come out," Burr said. "Or, we’re going to see the ball thrown more than we’ve ever seen in a Super Bowl game and the eventual winner will be the one who had the ball last.”

“The second one would be much more exciting than the first one, but here again, I think the majority of Americans watch the Super Bowl for the commercials anyway.”
