Most state senators finished their work for the year at about 3:40 a.m. Tuesday, after voting 34-2 on a budget corrections bill that they did not question or debate. Too tired, maybe?
Among other things, the bill gives state employees five extra days of annual leave this year. The Senate will come back for a skeleton session and official adjournment in about 7 hours, but most probably won't return.
Senate leader Phil Berger thanked Lt. Gov. Walton Dalton, a Democrat, for presiding "fairly and firmly" over the Republican Senate over the last two years.
