S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley to headline McCrory fundraiser

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is the featured guest at a fundraiser for Pat McCrory later this month.

Haley is the latest big name Republican to help McCrory's bid for governor, joining the likes of Govs. Chris Christie and Bobby Jindal.

The Feb. 27 event is being held at the Winston-Salem home of Keith Vaughan, a major GOP financier and the chairman of the Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, a large law firm with a lobbying arm in Raleigh.

Among those listed on the fundraiser steering committee so far: former Wachovia Chairman John Medlin, former Novant Health CEO Paul Wiles and state Sen. Pete Brunstetter, who was considered as a possible McCrory challenger for the GOP nomination. Tickets cost between $1,000 and $4,000.

Haley rode a tea party wave into office. But her endorsement of Mitt Romney in the GOP presidential primary didn't help him carry the state.
