Romney Raleigh event raises over a half million

Mitt Romney raised about $550,00 at a fund raising lunch at Raleigh's Angus Barn,  according to organizers.

About 360 guests attended the private luncheon including former U.S. Sen. Lauch Faircloth of Clinton, retired Winston-Salem banker John Medlin, former U.S. ambassador Aldona Wos of Greensboro, former Ambassador Jim Culbertson of Winston-Salem, former ambassador Jim Cain of Raleigh, Cary software billionaire Jim Goodnight and his wife Ann, former N.C. Supreme Court Justice Bob Orr,  Raleigh businessman Bob Luddy,

Others included John and Willa Kane, the Raleigh real estate developer, Dr. Steve Bolick, of Eye Care Associates, business owners Charlie and Jenny and Flo Winston, Doyle Parrish of Summit Hospitality, Supreme Court Justice Barbara Jackson, and business people Duane and Pat Long and businessman Bill Prestage.

Others at the event included Carolyn & Temple Sloan, Marlene and Dick Daugherty, and Julia Daniels, a Raleigh civic leader, who is spouse of Frank Daniels Jr., the former publisher of The News and Observer. Julia Daniels is state co-finance chair of the Romney campaign. Her husband also attended the fund raiser.

Jeanie and Bob Ingram and Jody and Tom Darden hosted the event but were unable to attend. Co-chairs were Doug Kahn, Theresa Kostrzewa, and Dean Painter.

UPDATE: Frank Daniels said; "I'm supporting Obama. I went to the Romney event because I am supporting my wife. Since she was an integral part of it, I thought it was important to support her. I bought the cheapest ticket I could buy."

Tickets ranged from $1,000 to $10,000.
