Congressman Mike McIntyre, in a tough race to retain his seat against the well-funded challenge by Republican state Sen. David Rouzer, can take some encouragement from the latest Sabato’s Crystal Ball projections.
The 7th District race is now listed as “lean Democratic,” after ranging from “lean Republican” to “tossup.”
The Ball projects that the GOP will hold onto its majority in the House, but with somewhat fewer members than the current makeup, which gives them a 25-seat advantage. The prediction is that Democrats will pick up five seats.
