Gov. Beverly Perdue on July 8, 2009, in explaining why North Carolinians could be sure her proposed temporary tax increases would not become permanent.
No Kev, I mean carry on. Clearly based on the people on your side that post all day and don't have jobs you must run everything and the voters are behind you.
So, by all means...Carry on bringing up "hitler and stalin" in your thoughtful posts.
Boo!
I'm...
bejind
you!
So GiggleBox, to you all things amount to "thou shalt not speak ill of a Democrat"? So anything that might be said to criticize the Gov. is unimportant because she won a (narrow) victory riding the coattails of a strong presidential candidate? You come across as the kind of fanatical supporter that people like Hitler and Stalin had bejind them. And we should pay any attention to anything you say because....?
Let's see now...This is the same person that said the state budget was in a terrible deficit and went on to name a CEO of Education at a very pretty penny. I guess since she did this its okay because she must be paying his salary out of her own pocket...surely she would not tell us how bad the state's money crunch was, then turn around and spend money on a wasteful, duplicate job.
Of course, we'll believe her majesty the Queen, oops, I'm sorry, Guvnah Dumplin, no lies come across her lips!
From Shakespeare's "Antony and Cleopatra" (V, 11, 282-283)
Cleopatra:
"Give me my robe, put on my crown;
Because I'm the governor."
Well, to be honest that last line was added under the poetic license legislation of 1934. But it does seem to fit in. I mean Cleopatra was only a Queen.....but she could have gone on to become a Governor...maybe.
Could not this same reasoning be used in the upcoming years to explain why the temporary tax increses must become permanent?
Because I'm the Governor........
Well that settles it for me........everything is now right in Raleigh.
Go ahead and raise my taxes all you want, I feel much better now that Baby Dumpling has assured me that she has changed her spots.
Or could it just be that they will rename the temporary taxes and call them permanent taxes..........nah, they wouldn't do that cause Baby Dumpling is the governor ....she told me so!
You are certainly not a leader and not even an elected official that has earned the right to make such a statement. Instead, you come across as what you really are, another sleazey politician.
And your title is...?
Opposition Blogger at best I'm guessing.
How'd that vote for Governor turn out anyway?
Easley & Sanford probably rationalized their own behaviors with at least thinking the above statement.
Beverly, trust has to be earned and you have done little since being elected to gain our trust. Missteps include:
- Keeping silent about all of the state's budget problems throughout the campaign so you could get elected
- Breaking campaign promises, including to not increase taxes
- Being transparent only when it is convenient - i.e. not being upfront regarding your selection of Glover as head of the Highway Patrol
- Staying beholden to the Teacher's union at the expense of many others who will have to pay more taxes (excuse me, "for the children")
- Maintaining the "pay to play" approach to governing
- Perhaps condoning the continuation of temporary tax increases when Lt. Governor
- Continuing to add your own repetitive staff and not cutting your own salary at at time when you expect others to do so
- Etc.
You are certainly not a leader and not even an elected official that has earned the right to make such a statement. Instead, you come across as what you really are, another sleazey politician.
Because I'm the Governor, I broke another promise today..
Today in Mecklenburg County, Beverly went back on a promise that even her DOT Chairman Conti said that she had made to begin completion of their outerloop by year end. She unconditionally promised it to the local chamber and the press in February despite concerns from her own DOT officials ("she promised what!?"). She will say anything to appease her audience even if she has no clue as to what she is talking about or what the state can deliver on.
Whether she's the governor or not, we can't trust her and the above is just another example of why not.
