Mr. Nice Guy

Under the Dome Quotes

My job is to be nice to other people and their job is to be nice to me.

— Gov. Mike Easley, invoking the Golden Rule when talking about the way the North Carolina media has treated him in office, during an interview with the Greensboro News-Record published on Dec. 25, 2008.

Re: Mr. Nice Guy

Well......it is a slow, slow news day. Always a good time for some down home nonsense.

"My job is to be nice to other people and their job is to be nice to me"

Top ten things to which the Governor’s recent comment may also refer:

10. I believe it’s what James wrote when he signed my copy of his book.
9. It was Mr. Green Jeans’ job description.
8. It’s what Barney said to Mayberry’s Citizen of the Day, Mr. Thomas A. Moody, while trying to convince Mr. Moody to walk the straight and narrow path to righteousness. (But Mr. Moody did not return their niceness…….such a sad story. I think Mr. Moody may have went on to write for the N & O.)
7. It’s a roadmap for peace in the Middle East.
6. It’s the definition of what is “is” and the reverse osmosis of returning good for evil.
5. Although she did not speak real good English, I think it is what the girl was saying to me while I was on R&R in Bangkok.
4. It’s what the undertaker said when momma died.
3. It’s the motto of the Golf Leaf Foundation, FEMA and the sales tax man.
2. It may be what you say when you give away some furniture you made…….in hopes that the recipient will say, “You made that yourself? How lovely and thoughtful.” And then those dreaded, whispered words: “Wonder what it will bring on eBay?”

1. Taking into account the exchange rate, I believe it means that even if they charge $60.00 for a cheeseburger “over there,” a true Southern gentleman should still leave a nice tip.
