It looks to me like it's still the cold war and we've copied the Russian system.
— State Sen. Tom Apodaca, a Henderson County Republican, complaining that Democratic leaders cut off debate on the budget before Republicans could comment, on June 18, 2008.

Re: A 'nyet' on budget
June 19, 2008 - 3:04pm — lanarkThe legislature should be disbanded and each citizen should vote on every issue via the internet. Then the lobbyists would not have anyone to bribe and there would be no more Jim Black's to take those bribes and we would not as much idiocy in the bureaucracy. Maybe we could even get a decent governor.

June 19, 2008 - 10:42am — FFC1304This is the way NC has been run for over 100+ years, clear and TOTAL democrackkk OPPRESSION, MANIPULATION, and CORRUPTION!
WE have a SOCIALIST State right here, right now, ALL at the hands of power hungry democrackkks across NC! STRIVE to be SMARTER than a NC democrackkk!
Re: A 'nyet' on budget
June 19, 2008 - 12:52am — ProctorSen. Apodaca's comments should prompt Dome to do a comparative study of politics and culture in North Carolina and Russia. But here are a few key points to be mentioned right away:
1. In Russia they get their opinions from the outskirts of Moskva. But in North Carolina we get our opinions from the suburbs of Mocksville.
2. In Russia they have Ural Mountain attractions for tourists to enjoy. In North Carolina we have Your Raleigh Legislature for visitors to enjoy.
3. Russians can go play golf if "Putin is around" to give his approval. In North Carolina, you can just head down to Southern Pines and go "puttin' around" all you want, whether the Legislature is in session or not.
4. To enjoy a breathtaking novel about early 20th Century Russia, be sure to read about Doctor Zhivago in Pasternak's novel. To find out about the political life of early 20th Century North Carolina, just remember to read about J.C.B. Ehringhaus on Pasquotank's historical markers.
5. To find out the latest political news in Moscow, be sure to peruse the pages of Pravda & Izvestia. If they're sold out, just take a Sunday spin over to St. Petersburg. To get the latest political news in Raleigh, just pick up a copy of The News & Observia. If it's sold out, just watch N.C. SPIN, but you don't have to drive all the way to St. Pete because you can see it every Sunday right here in Raleigh.

June 18, 2008 - 8:00pm — danmanley2299if democrats have been in control for over 100 years and ruining "our once great state" how do you know? although you seem to be an old codger, living in moms basement(or cave) one could deduce from your unreasoned rants, that they are not based on a rational educated foundation.
