What's the difference between these two sets of names?

Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Bill Richardson and Tom Vilsack.

John Edwards, Chris Dodd, Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich.

The first four are former Democratic presidential contenders who have been named to Barack Obama's administration: Biden as vice president, Clinton as secretary of state, Richardson as secretary of commerce and Vilsack as secretary of agriculture.

The second four are former contenders who have not been named.
