Progressive Dems: Investigate Easley

A group of liberal Democrats is calling for an investigation of former Gov. Mike Easley.

The Progressive Democrats of North Carolina called today for an investigation into Easley's travel in office and involvement in his wife's job at N.C. State.

"We are chagrined by the deafening silence coming from the N.C. Democratic Party and Democratic leaders in the General Assembly concerning these allegations, and feel that it is essential for the party to speak up," president Heide Kober said in a press release.

The group warned that Democrats risk "being further discredited" on corruption issues, allowing Republicans to "feign the moral and ethical high ground."

"Failure to stand resolutely against political corruption and cronyism regardless of party, will, in no uncertain terms, invite defeat," Kober said.

The group was founded in 2004 in Greensboro.

Re: Progressive Dems: Investigate Easley

Progressive dems investigate easley, thats a joke. They would vote for him again in a heartbeat, knowing he is one of the most corrupt politcians that ever disgraced our state.

Dude, you so don't get it. "Progessive Dems" would vote for Bush, McCrory, Burr, Satan if they could, just to prove a point.

Progressive dems investigate easley, thats a joke. They would vote for him again in a heartbeat, knowing he is one of the most corrupt politcians that ever disgraced our state. They knew this before he was elected to his second term, but guess what he won by a landslide. The only qualification for governor in this state is to be a democrat. So don't investigate him, like this is something you folks just found out about, don't throw poor mike under the bus after all the political favors he did for your party.

Re: Progressive Dems: Investigate Easley

It was a joke that someone made in a previous statement -

I am actually capable of thinking of my own - but thanks!

Re: Progressive Dems: Investigate Easley

What is this "dark cave" thing? Something Glenn Beck taught yall to say?

Re: Progressive Dems: Investigate Easley

Jerimee -

Rep. Allred was reported by Republicans - asked to step down by Republicans - and pretty much left high and dry by Republicans.

Democrats have defended Thomas Wright, Mike Easley, John Edwards, Jim Black, Julie Boseman until it became over-whelming clear that an investigation exposed or would expose a scandal...

Get a grip...

What about a reason as to why Muthoni Wambu and Fred Aiken were fired from the office of Senator Kay Hagan?

Where was the News and Observer asking these tough questions - in a dark cave - contractually obliged to defend the Democrat establishment

Re: Progressive Dems: Investigate Easley

I applaud 'progressive dems' for their veiled request...

NOW, let them call for investigations into GOLDEN LEAF and the Sleazely appointed Dan Gerlach! Then I will be more impressed!

Re: Progressive Dems: Investigate Easley

Dems should be investigating Easley because it is the right thing to do. Not because Republicans might gain a political advantage. Yes?

Yup, I think so - I don't have all the facts, but I imagine if the shoe was on the other foot I wouldn't need them. I hope Governor Easley gets every opportunity to clear himself of reasonable allegations.

Re: Progressive Dems: Investigate Easley

Gosh, while I'm disappointed that Burr supporters are making more use of GradeBurr.com than Burr detractors, I imagine that Paul Terrell would be very disappointed if I tampered with the "results."

But back to the subject this thread is about:

I contacted the Progressive Democrats to ask how the decision was made to send out the release. It turns out that their entire membership were all given a chance to take part in both the decision itself and in the writing of the statement.

Needless to say, I hope that the Easley family is innocent of any wrong doing, both in the letter and spirit of the law.

If the Easleys were complicit in even minor corruption it hurts the entire Democratic party, and undermines the hard work of tens of thousands of Democratic volunteers.

Re: Progressive Dems: Investigate Easley

I'm Kara Hollingsworth and I have never worked directly for NCDP. You must be talking about Kerra who was not fired and left NCDP for another position as a Communication Director.

RTB

Whence you depart for darker caves, who will be the lucky soul replacing you as lord of the realm on this playground?

Re: Progressive Dems: Investigate Easley

Here's my two cents:

I caught the matinee.

Nice work Jerimee.

Planning on re-electing Bush next or just making more graphics on your own time now that the NCDP fired you?

Re: Progressive Dems: Investigate Easley

I think that graphic is actually kinda funny and pretty true, but I'm contractually obliged to point out that our comments section is supposed to be cursing-free.

Re: Progressive Dems: Investigate Easley

jerimee, you were very critical of Senator Burr concerning the tobacco issue. Why were you silent on Kay Hagan's involvment? Isn't that double standard/ hypocritical of you? And yes I am questioning your motives.

Dems should be investigating Easley because it is the right thing to do. Not because Republicans might gain a political advantage. Yes?

Re: Progressive Dems: Investigate Easley

Good contribution Gosh. Not that your comments typically express much insight.

Here's my two cents:

Re: Progressive Dems: Investigate Easley

I don't know about Kara Hollingsworth or Krisin Ward, but neither Jerry Meek nor Jerimee Richir were fired.

Re: Progressive Dems: Investigate Easley

The group was founded in 2004 in Greensboro.

Yet, Jerry Meek, Kara Hollingsworth, Kristin Ward and Jerimee Richir were all fired this year.

The unrecognized liberal group known as Yahoos with time on their hands should call for an investigation of themselves.

They did this.

Dream on boys

They'd rather do anything than investigate their own.

Where is the White Knight of Goodness, Bob Hall, now that his buddies are in the ditch?
