Robin Anderson is a former candidate for the Democratic nomination for labor commissioner.
Professional Career
Anderson, a Raleigh labor and employment attorney, has served on the State Personnel Commission since 1999. Gov. Mike Easley named her chairwoman of the commission in 2003.
She also has taught business law as part of the MBA program at Meredith College.
Political Career
In 2008, she ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic nomination for labor commissioner, coming in fourth place. Anderson was notable in the primary race for dubbing Republicna incumbent Cherie Berry "the elevator lady" for her picture on state elevator licenses.
The State Board of Elections denied a requested recount in the race.
Former Labor department researcher Mary Fant Donnan and former labor commissioner John C. Brooks, who came in first and second, then competed in a primary runoff.

"Goals to accomplish within the first year would include increasing completed inspections and decreasing time it takes for worker complaints to be resolved; bringing more businesses into compliance; and reducing workplace injuries through better conditions not just due to changing industries."
