Lance Sigmon is a Republican candidate for U.S. Congressional district 10.
Early Life and Education
Lance Bretton Sigmon was born Nov. 10, 1958, in Newton, N.C., to Eddie and Boncella Sigmon.
Eddie was a furniture worker who started a TV repair shop. Boncella worked as a secretary for the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Sigmon attended Newton-Conover High School in Newton and graduated in 1977.
After a stint in the Air Force, Sigmon went to Western Carolina University, graduating with honors in 1985 with a B.S. in Economics and Accounting.
He then attended law school at Wake Forest and graduated in 1988.
Professional Career
In 1977 Sigmon enlisted in the Air Force. He was a gunner on a B-52 bomber and was stationed in North Dakota.
After going back to school and graduating from Western Carolina and Wake Forest, Sigmon rejoined the Air Force as an officer and an attorney.
He was stationed in Florida, Alaska, North Carolina, Germany and Washington, D.C., when he wasn't deployed.
In 2005 he retired as a lieutenant colonel and a military judge. He moved back to Newton the same year and currently lives there.
2008 Congressional Campaign
He is running in the Republican primary against U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry in the 10th Congressional District.
