Kenneth R. Lay earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and finance from the University of Notre Dame in 1971.

Professional Career

He has served as senior executive in marketing and information technology with Bank of America in Charlotte.

Previously, he was a senior vice president at JPMorgan Chase in New York. 

Political Career

Prior to joining Perdue's Cabinet, Lay had never served in a government position. He had contributed $4,000 to Perdue since 2006.

On Jan. 6, 2009, Perdue named Lay Revenue secretary.
