How will you measure success in your first year in office?

I will measure success by how well we’re able to effectively prosecute those cases that are pending. Within the first three months, we should see a sizable, manageable reduction in the backlog of cases. The next step would be to make any personnel changes. I will be able to look at the status of our personnel in that office that went for 13 years without performance reviews.

Took in his nephew when a brain tumor made it difficult for the boy’s mother to care for him.

What is the biggest challenge facing North Carolina? Your county? Your district?

Our biggest problem is getting control of crime
