Diane Hamby is a former Congressional candidate.
Early Life and Education
She grew up in Massachusetts. As an adult, she moved to Virginia, where she trained horses.
She moved to North Carolina about 20 years ago.
Professional Career
She and her husband, Terry, formerly owned a long-haul trucking company called D&T Trucking.
They now run D&T Painting Co., a residential and commercial company.
Political Career
A longtime Democrat, she has served as county chair and precinct chair in Iredell County.
She ran for the state Senate as a write-in candidate in the early 1990s.
In 1992, she won a seat on the Iredell County Board of Commissioners. She served one term.
In January of 2008, she announced she would run for the Fifth Congressional seat held by U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx.
She narrowly lost to Roy Carter in the Democratic primary in May.
