Synopsis

Charles Perusse is the state budget director and a member of Gov. Beverly Perdue's administration. After earning a master's of public administration from UNC-Chapel Hill, he worked eight years for the legislature's Fiscal Research Division. From 2002 to 2008, he served as deputy state budget director under Gov. Mike Easley's administration. In September of 2008, he was appointed acting state budget director. Perdue appointed him to the post the following January.

Early Life and Education

Charles Edward Perusse earned a bachelor of arts in political science from N.C. State University.

He earned a master's degree in public administration from UNC-Chapel Hill.

Professional Career

Perusse worked eight years for the legislature's Fiscal Research Division, spending three years as budget coordinator for the N.C. House of Representatives.

From January 2002 to September of 2008, he served as deputy state budget director under Gov. Mike Easley's administration.

In September of 2008, he was appointed acting state budget director. 

Perdue Administration

On Jan. 12, 2009, Governor Perdue appointed him state budget director, citing his experience with the state budget.
