President Barack Obama's approval is in the mid-40s, two new polls show.
The Democratic firm Public Policy Polling found a 45 percent approval rating and the conservative-leaning Civitas Institute pulled a 44 percent rating.
"North Carolina is one of the few states where Obama's standing has declined enough that he probably wouldn't win it again if the election was held today," PPP's Tom Jensen notes.
"It looks like the honeymoon is definitely ending for President Obama, said Francis De Luca, executive director of the Civitas Institute.

PPP notes that Obama holds a much higher favorable rating among African Americans.
While he's maintained a strong 90% rating with African Americans, only 33% of whites express support for his work. 35% is generally viewed as the bare minimum threshold Obama can attain with white voters and still hope to repeat his surprising victory in the state from last year.
Civitas found that Obama is losing support from unaffiliated voters.
Along party lines, just over a quarter of Democrats disapprove of President Obama’s performance (71 percent favorable, 26 percent unfavorable). But among Unaffiliated voters (34 percent favorable, 63 percent unfavorable) and Republicans (17 percent favorable, 82 percent unfavorable) it turns sharply negative.
The Civitas poll of 600 registered voters was conducted September 29-30 by SurveyUSA and had a margin of error 4 percentage points.
PPP's survey was of 683 voters from Oct. 2-4 and had a margin of error of 3.8 percentage points.

Re: Polls peg Obama approval in mid-40s
Domewatcher, I like it. You ought to do an editorial for this rag. I have a feeling that most are about tired of his impressive speeches by now. Maybe if he was to change them once in a while, someone would appreciate him more. The same old re-runs are tiresome. I guess he thinks that the average joe is stupid and can't tell that he has been scammed by a professional. How many lies can one person tell before the whole nation realizes that he is an impostor?
