Poll: Burr's numbers up slightly

North Carolinians appear to be a bit more satisfied with U.S. Sen. Richard Burr.

The latest survey by Public Policy Polling shows that the numbers have improved slightly for Burr, a Winston-Salem Republican who is up for re-election next year.

PPP surveyed 711 North Carolina voters from Nov. 9-11. They found that 40 percent of North Carolinians approve of the job Burr is doing, while 31 percent disapprove. That's better than the 38 percent rating Burr got in last month's poll by PPP, and 36 percent in September.

Burr continues to come out on top when voters are asked about match-ups with potential Democratic candidates.

Burr leads U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (45-35), Secretary of State Elaine Marshall (45-34), former Lt. Gov. Dennis Wicker (45-33), Chapel Hill Mayor Kevin Foy (44-32), and Chapel Hill attorney Ken Lewis (45-32).

The survey's margin of error was plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.

Re: Poll: Burr's numbers up slightly

The proper response -

President Obama voted for the TARP legislation.

He is our President, thus our ONLY voice in the White House.

Goldman Sachs is lazy - too bad President Obama is listening to them.

Are we to consider Chicago as Yankeeland???

How come no one can link now UTD staff?

Re: Poll: Burr's numbers up slightly

giggles "you do know that Senator Burr is our ONLY voice in the senate that voted FOR Bush's Wall Street Bailout."

And your point is?
And who are you calling a "yankee"?

Re: Poll: Burr's numbers up slightly

there's not a qualified democrackkk in NC to run...thank God.

Re: Poll: Burr's numbers up slightly

Dogbyte, you do know that Senator Burr is our ONLY voice in the senate that voted FOR Bush's Wall Street Bailout.

Once you grow up and get adult jobs, you won't be so off hand about throwing all your tax money away to the lazy.

Goldman Sachs wasn't lazy?

On behalf of the good people we grow in small towns, up yours Yankee.

Re: Poll: Burr's numbers up slightly

Looks like a lot of you socialists are running scared. Oh sorry, I meant liberals...naw, I am not PC so I really did mean socialists. But, in reality you are just a bunch of kids that don't know any better. Once you grow up and get adult jobs, you won't be so off hand about throwing all your tax money away to the lazy. Go ahead and back folks that will vote for a bill that murders children (abortions for you dense ones), steals from the seniors' Medicare, mandates subscribing to insurance with threats of jail time, medical services rationing, higher premiums, etc. Oh, and less we forget the death panel is back in this bill. Argue all you want kiddies, but I back up what I say with fact, when all you do is bash the workers and producers. Hang in there kids, and we will take care of you, as always.

Re: Poll: Burr's numbers up slightly

It's a strange thing to me the Democrats are having such a hard time finding an opponent for Burr if he is so weak.

I don't see anyone of the horizon in the Democrat world that can oust him, unless he stumbles terribly.

Reality must be raising it's ugly head and if things continue, Hagan will have trouble in her future.

Just my opinion, but I believe I have a lot of company.

Re: Poll: Burr's numbers up slightly

Please explain to me how that a poll of 711 constitutes/ citizens can in any way shape form or fashion be respresentive for any politician in this state as that there are in excess of 6.0 + million residents in this state an this in all probability doesn't even count all of the illegals in this state as that we have more of them than our fair share. i personal feel that we should through out all of the bums in congress democrats/ blue dogs an the incubmentrepublican all together an start over again from sratch thank you

Re: Poll: Burr's numbers up slightly

Bankrun Burr 4 out of 10 like him, that means 6 out of 10 don't or dont bother with politics at all. Bankrun Burr is a patsy for the US Chamber of Commerce (Big business lobby) Americans for Prosperity, and numerous other groups that advocate keeping wages low, keeping the status quo on healthcare, the disolution of Social Security in favor of a private system (Did the stock market crash last year not give a clue as to how that endeavour would end?) sending jobs overseas, removal of wording from existing laws that prohibit the importation of anything made with child labor or convict labor. Yet the party of No is the american familiy party> I think Not!A working person voting Republican is ignorant or just plain stupid.

w00t

40 percent of North Carolinians approve of the job Burr is doing

Take THAT Bush/Rove that recruited him. He's twice as popular as you in a state that went Obama.

HA! This thing is over. Only 6 out of ten North Carolinians either hate his guts or never heard of him. That's spelled 'success' for the GOP these days.
