Personnel file: Faison names campaign team for governor's race

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bill Faison recently announced his campaign team.

The campaign is being led by chief strategist Jeanne Milliken Bonds, the former Knightdale mayor who helped elect state Supreme Court Justice Burley Mitchell. She is managing her first campaign for governor.

Neil Kammerman, a veteran Democratic operative with Wild Bunch Media, is the campaign's media consultant. Scott Dworkin is the finance director. His previous experience includes Democratic Congressman Larry Kissell's 2010 campaign. The fundraising team includes Brad Kennedy, Rob Sherwood and Tess Williams. The firm NGP VAN (created by the 2010 merger of NGP Software and Voter Activation Network) is leading the campaign's online and new media strategy.

“Our campaign team is taking shape and I am proud to have their expertise with me in my run for governor,” said Faison, an Orange County state lawmaker, in a statement.

More campaign staffers are expected to be named in coming days. For more details about the team and to see the campaign logo, click here for the formal announcement.

Shezanne Cassim, the American jailed in the United Arab Emirates after posting a video parody, was sentenced Monday to one year in prison and a fine of 10,000 UAE dirhams (approximately $2,700).
The young American living in the UAE has been imprisoned since April, his family says, for posting what was intended to be a funny video on the Internet.
He was accused of defaming the UAE's image abroad, according to The National, the country's main English-language newspaper.
The video in question is a 19-minute short that pokes fun at a clique of Dubai teens who are influenced by hip-hop culture. In the 1990s, the label "Satwa G" was coined for a group of suburban teens who were known to talk tougher than they really were.
The video depicts a look at a "combat school" in the suburb of Satwa, where these "gangsters" are trained. The training includes how to throw sandals at targets, using clothing accessories as whips, and how to call on the phone for backup.Cassim's family says the 29-year-old has been charged with endangering national security. The charges were not read out in court. UAE officials would only say "Mr. Cassim was charged under the UAE's penal code. Anyone charged with a crime under the laws of the UAE is entitled to the fair trial protections contained in the UAE's constitution."
Cassim, from Woodbury, Minnesota, moved to Dubai in 2006 after graduating from college to work for PricewaterhouseCoopers.
He and some friends made and posted the video online in 2012. He was arrested in April. He was interrogated and arrested in Dubai before being transferred to a maximum security prison in Abu Dhabi. His family says it was five months before he was notified of the charges against him.

ROFLMAO! 'you people' are killin me!

lol at these comments!  looks like Bob Who Are You? is doing purty

I believe McCrory will prevail this time, but he's not conservative enough!

Vote FERN SHUBERT for NC Auditor!   THE MOST QUALIFIED person to ever seek that office!!!

Is this who you want leading your state?

Faison and his chief strategist have now been "campaigning" for 6 months. The most recent polls show Faison tied for last. I do not know Faison or his ex-wife but it seems that Faison's campaign workers are now trying to further attack and humiliate his ex-wife because his campaign is doing so poorly. How could a man who claims to be so devoted to his children try to publicly humiliate their Mother? I feel so sorry for those children. He must be terribly desperate at this point. kams52 seems to have a close association with Faison and his campaign staff. If Faison is using his campaign and recognition to attack his ex-wife I hope he is exposed for his dispicable behavior. I, for one, do not want this man and his 'strategist' in a position to make decisions that affect me, my children and the future of this state.

Give it a rest Lindy

Will Cubbison has never won a campaign and we know you are paying him to write stuff. Ms. Bonds got a chief justice elected, an act which Will Cubbison could never achieve. he is a kid and you are wasting your money paying him to write on here. Bill's kids all met him and know he is a loser in everything he does

LOL Lindy

Still at it with your paid team we see. No one knows  Will Cubbison, Compto and others. Get a life hon. And quit paying these kids.. They ain't worth the money you are throwing at em and no one can help your reputation so quit trying to get everyone else. Those who beat on others get what's coming to em in short order.

Hopeless - Faison is dead last

Faison's "team" is so inexperienced and untested it makes him the laughingstock of the governor's race - where in spite of his spending hundreds of thousands on useless media - he is now dead last.  Here is a quote from PPP:

"Bob Etheridge leads the pack with 26% to 19% for Walter Dalton. Bruce Blackmon leads the second tier of Democratic candidates with 5% to 4% for Gardenia Henley, and 2% each for Gary Dunn and Bill Faison."

Wow, a chief strategist that

Wow, a chief strategist that couldn't even get 40% of the vote in the Democratic primary in her own House race in 2010. Brilliant wonder BF is polling @ 2% in the latest poll.

Get cash in advance from him...and don't let him kiss your babies.......

Bill Faison

Bill Faison will make a great Governor! He is not beholden to anyone. He is the only Democrat who can beat McCrory

Thanks for the comment  Mr. Faison, now go back to sleep.

Faison Campaign Team

I see Bill  Faison surronding hemself with a very strong powerhouse in his run for Governor.

A prime example of how well he could run this state.   This is what we have been looking for.  Great leadership for North Carolina.
