A second version of a new ad by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Beverly Perdue attacks Republican rival Pat McCrory over his stance on stem cell research.
Low class....Sleazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzy. A sign of desperation. She and her allies should be ashamed. They will do anything to be in power. If I were a Perdue supporter, with a conscious, I would be embarassed. Pat's mother was a great mother. Pat's family for 10 years went thru a time that none of us can relate to unless you have had a love one suffer. To state that Pat McCrory is opposed to hope is mean spirited. To bring back memories of his mother suffering is disgusting. Shame on you Beverly.
The N&O wont expose her because they are going to endorse her. Despite the fact that McCrory is FAR more qualified, with the leadership skills this state so desperately needs.
Ms FlipFlop, tell us what you have done to support stem cell research while being the self proclaimed "health care leader" for NC over the past 8 years. She is a fraud! Why doesn't the N&O expose her?
In her latest ad, Perdue claims credit for supporting stem cell research. However, she has a different record as lieutenant governor. A stem cell research funding bill (HB1837) passed the N.C. House on July 28, 2007. Perdue had more than a year to move this legislation through the N.C. Senate, but she failed to act and the legislation died. Another bill to fund stem cell research was introduced by Sen. Walter Dalton (SB1865). This legislation also died because it did not gain enough support in the N.C. Senate.
"There is no evidence that Lt. Gov. Perdue, the President of the Senate, did anything to successfully move this legislation forward," said McCrory Campaign Manager Richard Hudson. "If Lt. Gov. Perdue says she supports stem cell research, where are the results after eight years presiding over the Senate?"

Perdue’s Latest Hypocrisy: Stem Cell Attack
Lt. Governor Failed to Lead on Legislation in the N.C. Senate
Charlotte, N.C. – Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue has started running a misleading, tasteless ad that attacks Pat McCrory on the issue of stem cell research. She is using the victim of a horrible disease to frighten people for her own political gain.
Pat McCrory supports stem cell research — the type of research that scientists say is the safest and most effective and avoids destroying human life.
“I support adult and amniotic stem cell research,” said McCrory. “My mother had Alzheimer’s and I watched her struggle with the disease for ten years. That’s why I support stem cell research at places like Wake Forest University. These scientists offer us hope that one day, families won’t have to suffer as my family has.
“Beverly Perdue should fulfill the promise she made to voters to run a positive campaign and stop running these deceiving, negative ads,” McCrory said.
“There is no evidence that Lt. Gov. Perdue, the President of the Senate, did anything to successfully move this legislation forward,” said McCrory Campaign Manager Richard Hudson. “If Lt. Gov. Perdue says she supports stem cell research, where are the results after eight years presiding over the Senate?”
These ads need to be fact checked.
