Perdue's plan for government reform

Beverly Perdue highlighted her proposals for open government today.

At a forum on ethics by the N.C. Coalition for Lobbying and Government Reform, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate talked about issues that she made part of her platform several months ago:

* A Google-type search engine for scrutinizing all state contracts.

* Positive-only campaigns for governor partly funded by non-profit groups.

* An independent budget reform panel whose recommendations can't be amended.

* Streaming video of government meetings on the Internet.

* Tighten controls to stop officials leaving state service from immediately going to work for a business they were working with in their state job.

* Prohibit legislators from asking lobbyists to contribute to charities.

Re: Perdue's plan for government reform

Is corruption that difficult to see when you've been standing knee-deep in it for 10 to 20 years? You should at least be able to smell it, Bev!!!!!!!!
Please don't insult us by claiming to be a reformer.

Nametags.........

I think Bev left one thing out……..name tags.

Remember when Seinfeld’s Elaine talked Lloyd Braun into recommending to Mayor Dinkins that all New Yorkers wear name tags. I think whoever wrote this list for Bev may have written that Seinfeld Episode.

Bev - Cry me a river...

Please.

Re: Perdue's plan for government reform

Amen, breining. It appears that by 'positive campaigning' Bev means that only nice things can be said about her.

It seems that Bev does not understand that it is not necessarily negative campaigning when her opponent(s) or the media detail her voting record, her previous statements, or any other detail related to her public life.

I am a registered Democrat and a woman who will not support Bev for Governor. Her actions and words demonstrate that she is not the leader that NC needs now, or ever, for that matter.

Re: Perdue's plan for government reform

She has been in Raleigh since 1987 and now she wants to reform the corruption she has been a part of. Now she wants to be a leader? How can you reform the mess you helped created?

Re: Perdue's plan for government reform

Positive only campaigns, is she serious? How about practice what you preach Bev!
