Let's see, I believe McCrory's City Council called him a "non-factor" in anything to to with Charlotte's successes. I was being kind with the referee reference; after all, it's his only other qualification unless you count high school class officer.

Berverly Perdue lead the way in raiding the Highway Trust Fund. She can try to fool some of the people some of the time but she can't fool all of the people all of the time. Perdue has a long record it seems of saying one thing but doing another.

Dear Pickingperdue - Why do you use the term "referee" in such a derogatory manner in reference to SEVEN term Mayor McCrory? If you mean to degrade "referees" as nonparticipatory outsiders/observers who simply watch the work of others - then HOW does that differ from the position held by Bev Perdue as the Lt Governor for the past eight years? Really?

Picking perdue is right about obama and McCrory they don't have alot in common, they do have one big thing in common CHANGE. A change from the way things have been done for the last 8yrs.

To each his own, but how you can put Obama and McCrory on the same ticket is quite the paradox! Good luck with that. Have you actually researched the referee?

Oh, yes indeed! I heard McCrory, and Perdue was there. Maybe you should actually watch the debates; then you would not have to write IF I heard it...I certainly did! McCrory does not know how to debate. He smirks, coughs while she is talking, shakes his head, laughs, poses, and talks out of turn the entire time. I remember those kinds of "debates" from junior high school. I would not "debate" McCrory either - not when all he is there for is to be negative and tell Perdue how negative she is. It's ridiculous, and although it worked for McCrory in jr.high or high school, I'm convinced that intelligent, concerned citizens won't buy his negativity. I'm sure most of us will agree that the PHD trumps the referee!
PS Since when is Bill Clinton our moral compass? I do understand the comparion b/w McCrory & Clinton though on this personal level - it raises even more ethical questions about Playboy Pat!

we would not have any new construction or road improvments if not for the highway trust fund. Which our last republican governor put in place 16yrs ago!! The Easely/Perdue crowd robb this fund on regular basis to balance the budget or put in the general fund so they can fund pet projects. Such as building roads to developments owned by rich democrat campaign contribitors or hauling gravel to the driveways of prospective voters in election years. I have seen all this and so have all of you. The loser in all this mess is the taxpayers of this state. The corruption in raleigh must stop now!!! Not only did Perdue NOT show up at the only 2 statewide debates but numerous forums across the state. How does she keep a straight face about desiring to be a Governor for the entire state when the voters in the west have not even seen/heard her debate. How can we believe her claims that she is NOW going to be open, honest and transparent.

On top of that, she is working hard to divide our state between urban and rural using ancient quotes (again from 1999 to 2004) when McCrory was acting just as the Mayor of Charlotte. This division by Beverly is at a time when the entire state needs to find ways to address major problems at the state level. Not the leader we need during this difficult time for our state.

She has to remain negative if only for the reason that the Observer states that she has no internal compass.

Dear PickingPerdue - It is equally as hard to take you Perdue fans seriously. I didn't hear the Mayor discuss the RGA ads, but IF you are correct, at least you actually got to HEAR Mayor McCrory in a debate. Mr McCrory and Mr Munger at least respected the democratic process enough to actually attend the only STATEWIDE televised debates (on our own citizen/legislature supported UNC-TV) or statewide broadcast television news shows (NC SPIN, for example). Ms. Perdue only debates in select markets in front of select audiences. And for the record, former President Clinton has also talked about Ms. Palin's "hot-ness". WWF165

"I'm positive about Bev" went out the window a long time ago. Bev Perdue has made this a very nasty campaign from the start. Instead of pointing fingers at others maybe she needs to take a good hard look at herself and her own record. For instance, she has been a party to raiding the Highway Trust Fund for over 20 years. Maybe we would still be the Good Roads State if it weren't for career politicians like Bev Perdue. I find it odd that she would even consider bringing up transportatin issues since there are some ethical skeletons in her closet with the DOT.

It's again amazing that Beverly has to go back to 1998, 1999, 2000 & 2004 (as the ad shows in small print) to come up with statements or comments regarding the Mayor. I believe that in those years he was just the Mayor of Charlotte and representing his constituents, the citizens of Charlotte. I would have been disappointed if he didn't make statements like that as a Mayor. It was a fact that Charlotte was getting the short end of the straw compared to other parts of the state regarding road construction. Have you been on the 4-lanes of 485 during rush hour?

Who is attempting to divide the state into rural versus urban by using statements that McCrory made as the Mayor years ago? It is not the Mayor as he is now communicating the same message across the entire state, including that we are in this together and that we have to solve our state's problems together. I have personally heard him say to Charlotte groups that he will not show preference to Charlotte when he is the Governor (Beverly's snitch can probably validate this as they have recorded/filmed most of his events). Show me a single statement that McCrory has made during his campaign for Governor to divide the state like Beverly is doing.

My question is: While McCrory was trying to stick up for his constituents when he was Mayor in 2000, when did Beverly ever speak up against the corruption or unnecessary spending that was occuring in Raleigh during her watch? Never, because she was a major part of it. I frankly have not even heard a comment from her since the cancellation of the state jet as she was probably drooling that she would have access to the jet any time she needed to fly back to New Bern.

It's really hard to take you McCrory fans seriously. Are you kidding about Perdue being negative? What do you call McCrory's Status Quo Bev ads.? At least Perdue has the backbone to sponsor her ads. McCrory hides behind the RGA ads and pretends he is positive(or maybe he is letting them pay for them so he can pay membership to Myers Park Country Club...oh, does someone else pay for that, too?) That's so hypocritical! I actually heard McCrory say in a debate that he can't do anything about RGA's ads. That's a status quo lie! Are they running them for some other reason than to promote McCrory, or his he really their puppet??? I must say that Negative Pat is much more insidious than you all give him credit for. Anyone who says Palin is hotter in person should be ashamed, and you supporters should be embarrassed!

This ad amounts to nothing more than a smear on the state's urban areas, and it underscores the arrogance that the 'Down Easterners' have when it comes to road funding. Once again Negative Bev is rearing her ugly head. This time, she is attacking the most populated areas of NC

Charlotte is NOT the center of the universe. Also, maybe Charlotte needs to do a better job of "smart growth." How much wider does I-85 needs to get? And how about 485? Not good enough for you?

Besides seems to me that McCrory hasn't done a good enough job of working with his own legislative delegation. Maybe if he would learn to "work" with his fellow elected officials, rather than grandstanding for his own benefit, issues could be resolved. I think he needs to quit point fingers and blaming everyone else, and start looking in the mirror. He's just a bunch of hot air, and if you truly followed Charlotte politics you would know that.

Mecklenburg and Wake counties as well as the other urban counties year in and year out contribute more money to the DOT and get the least return of any counties in the state. I lived in Charlotte and anybody else who has knows that Charlotte does get screwed, the traffic there is ridiculous. The system is a joke and needs to be overhauled. I think the point McCrory was making was that with limited transportation funds, wouldnt it make sense to build roads where they are most needed? Why should every pet project down east get funded while folks in Charlotte, Raleigh, and the Triad sit in traffic.

So let me get this straight, I shouldn't vote for McCrory because he wants to use our limited transportation funds to build roads where they are needed. But I should vote for Bev so that her corrupt fund raising friends (Louis Sewell for instance) can continue to waste our limited resources building pet projects down east. Interesting.

Finally, we're starting to see Pat McCrory for who he really is. He is not "for North Carolina." As mayour, he's for himself and Charlotte's Uptown crowd. Take a closer look at Charlotte and you will see how he has ignored the people outside of Uptown Charlotte. If you don't have deep pockets and live in the Myers Park McMansions, you're not on his radar. I shudder to think how he would ignore a majority of "real" North Carolinians.

You can't believe any of Perdue's ads so far. Time after time even this paper has proven her ads to be far from the truth. The proof is in the pudding like in this clip which shows just how truthful Bev Perdue is.
