Perdue's 'immigration' ads rankle McCrory

Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue has launched two last-minute radio ads that Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory's campaign says are "racist" and "outrageous."

One ad features a narrarator who states that Perdue has a strong record against illegal immigration.

Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory is lying about Bev Perdue and illegal immigration. The word for "liar" in Spanish is "mentiroso."

The other ad features "Bill" and "Henry" who say that McCrory has let jobs go to illegal immigrants.

Bill: Hey Henry.

Henry: Hey Bill.

Bill: What you doin'?

Henry: Oh, about to have some lunch. Just opened a can of chili con carne. Care to join me?

Bill: Sure, a little Mexican sounds good.

Henry: Huh, maybe I should I invite that Pat McCrory over too. Have you heard what he said.

Bill: Oh, I know. I read about it. McCrory said it's good that illegal immigrants are here because they're building a lot of our buildings right now.

Henry: Does he think he's running for governor of Tijuana or something?

"This is an outrageous, personal and racist attack," said Richard Hudson, campaign manager for McCrory. "This is a despicable act of desperation by the lieutenant governor that marks a new low for North Carolina gubernatorial politics."

Perdue said Monday night that she was felt it was necessary to respond to ads launched by McCrory and the Republican Governors Association. One mailer by the RGA states that Perdue is rolling out the red carpet for illegal immigrants. One mailer showed up at her house in Chapel Hill.

"When it came to my own house, my own mailbox...enough was enough," Perdue said. "So we've set the record straight...It's an issue that's hard for the people of North Carolina. We want documented folks in North Carolina."

Re: Perdue's 'immigration' ads rankle McCrory

What doesn't rankle McCrory? Remeber the Charlotte Observer and City Council have called him short-tempered and thin-skinned. He can dish it out to the tune of 6 million RGA Negative ads. (he can't control those - wink, wink; status quo lie) but he just can't take the heat.
McCrory, get out of the kitchen - you've already said you don't like our BBQ...east or west.. you have finally shown your true colors (yellow, as in chicken who hides behind RGA and GW Bush). Want to know what McCrory will look and act like in 20 years? See John McCain- ugh! At least he can finally "hang with his hottie" Sarah Palin

Re: Perdue's 'immigration' ads rankle McCrory

Bev's ill-run campaign still on target to divide the state and the people. I predict we will see candidates fall on both sides of the aisle and continued the entire time. I assume her mislead campaign officers think NC voters are looking for someone, something to hold up as worse than their own lot. She's done suprisingly well even with the numerous corrupt scandals swirling around her own home base, assume spending twice the money has kept her somewhat in play.
This atrocious attack is a new low for even Perdue. She has a problem...she has attacked the wrong man. Mccrory has run and ethical and inspiring campaign, talking to the people of NC about issues, and openess, only describing the sorry state of affairs currently existing in Raleigh politics and the need for fresh leadership in transportation, mental health care, and education, the three very areas Bev has laid claim to managing for NC.
It's clear, and will be tonight..."the difference is leadership" for sure, as well as principles, ethics, financial prudence. Mccrory will be supported by the clear thinking voters of our state who abhor the divisive and racial pandering of the Democratic campaign.
The people will speak in volume tonight...time for NC to have honest administration, with our tax dollars in the funds they are designated for and used for the good of the people, not just a few who seek to enhance their own pockets. Mccrory/08.

Re: Perdue's 'immigration' ads rankle McCrory

I'm getting dang tired of hearing that "carpetbaggers" are trying to get into NC .gov since the carpetbaggers have been running roughshod over the state for a dang - long - time.

It's so bad that only way to prosper is with a backwards, cock-eyed perspective. This is NC's reputation in the rest of the country and its special appeal in other countries.

There is no choice to end a legacy of disease and decay. Purdue or McCrory, I don't think so... I've got heartpine flooring.

"In the race for governor, 21 percent had negative impressions of Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory's campaign, and 30 percent had negative impressions of Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue's campaign"

Thanks for finally explaining the cracked thinking behind your routine slur.

So what was great before the Democratic century began? And what greatness did you perceive in the Republicans who most recently controlled the House of Representatives?

You are correct that the Republicans were the party of the Reconstruction and the Democrats begat Jim Crow - but those table have turned in the past 50 years so that today's Democrats more resemble the Republicans of the past era you seem to prefer. You may want to study up a little more before you attempt to educate the rest of us.

Bev Perdue = MORE CORRUPTION WITHOUT INTERRUPTION!!!

STRIVE to be SMARTER than a CORRUPT NC democrackkk*

*spelled with 3 Ks to HONOR the democrat heritage as the ORIGINAL party of SLAVERY, as they continue to ENSLAVE, especially in NC, where 100+ years of democrackkk domination has RUINED our once great state!

Re: Perdue's 'immigration' ads rankle McCrory

For the second gubernatorial election in a row, I ask: why can't there be a none of the above box?

Both of them are terrible.

Re: Perdue's 'immigration' ads rankle McCrory

Opie and Andy are still at it. Have you heard this latest ad?

Opie: Pa, what’s chili con carne?
Pa: As I recall, Op, it’s a strip club in Tijuana. It’s near the train station.
Opie: Pa, why did Mr. Pat bring illegals to Charlotte to build those buildings?
Pa: Op, you remember earlier in the campaign?…. there were some ads that said Charlotte had the highest crime rate in the world, including ThunderDome.
Opie: Yes, sir.
Pa: Well, Op, Mr. Pat had to bring in people to work because all the people in Charlotte did was sit around all day robbing each other. So they did not have time to work.
Opie: I’ll bet they get a lot of felonies.
Pa: Op, you’d be surprised. According to the political ads, every man, woman and child in Charlotte has an average of 6 felonies per person.
Opie: That’s a lot of felonies.
Pa: Well, Op, they got a lot of banks there.
Opie: Do they have illegals in New Bern?
Pa: No, Op, not since they completed the bridge.

Bev Perdue: Racist

This just takes the cake...god I hope McCrory wipes the floor with her

Re: Perdue's 'immigration' ads rankle McCrory

If McCrory had run this ad then it would be called "negative advertising."

But since Bev doesn't do "negative advertising," how would this be classified? WWJD? High-class? Dumplin' stew? Bridge building? Reaching out to the Hispanic community? Racial profiling? Sifting the flour? Pandering to the chili con carne crowd?

I'm not sure what you call it but I know it is acceptable because Ms. Bev did it.

Re: Pandering Bev - fomenting xenophobic and racist fears. SAD.

I couldn't agree with you more. This is right up there with Jesse Helms's "Black Hands" ads and Willie Horton and the revolving door. It's only made worse by the fact that it's a so-called Democrat running them. Mrs. Eaves, please go home now and take your staff with you.

Pandering Bev - fomenting xenophobic and racist fears. SAD.

Thank the good Lord above that this campaign will end tomorrow, and heaven help us all if she wins. Does Bev truly believe she is not dividing the state?

Bev is in dangerous, dangerous territory. She is pandering to the worst xenophobic and racist fears in our society with these ads. She should be ashamed.

I think Bev forgets that a mere google search will reveal most of her record that clearly reveals that she will say anything and do anything for a vote.

SAD. Very, very sad. And she is running a positive campaign? WOW. She should be ashamed.

Re: Perdue's 'immigration' ads rankle McCrory

Just more of Bev's negative crap. The whole state is sick of all this stuff. Just run on what you stand for and hope for the best, but bev expect the worst because this state is screaming for change!!! Let the people speak McCrory/08
