Perdue will not attend inauguration

Gov. Beverly Perdue does not plan to attend the inauguration.

Perdue will be in Washington, D.C., on Sunday for an EMILY's List luncheon, but she does not currently plan to stick around for Tuesday's swearing-in ceremony for President-elect Barack Obama.

Spokesman Tim Crowley said he did not know what Perdue would do instead that day.

"I haven't seen the calendar," he said.

The National Governors Association invited its members to attend the inauguration.

Some are; some are not. Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California and Democratic Gov. Christine Gregoire of Washington will attend, while embattled Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is not.

Re: Perdue will not attend inauguration

Poor, poor form, Governor Perdue.

One of the most historic events in our country is the inauguration of President-elect Obama. Not to mention that fact that you quite probably rode into your office on Mr Obama's coattails. And yet you can't be bothered to stay in DC another two days to show your respect to our nation's leader? But you want him to bail you out of this economic mess in NC? Bad manners at best. Shameful at worst.

is Gov. Perdue's calender up on her new web site? I dont see it and wasnt sure if she had a listserv to tell interested citizens in advance what she is up to on any particular work day.
