Perdue to skip UNC debate

Beverly Perdue will skip a debate on UNC-TV Wednesday.

The public television channel had invited the Democratic gubernatorial candidate as well as Republican Pat McCrory and Libertarian Mike Munger. Perdue declined.

Perdue and McCrory have already debated four times and will meet for one more sponsored by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg League of Women Voters on Oct. 15.

Munger is also invited to that event, but he has not been asked to previous debates.

McCrory and Munger will appear, however. The moderator will be Eszter Vajda, co-host of UNC-TV's Legislative Week in Review.

The debate will be broadcast live on UNC-TV at 8 p.m.

Re: Perdue to skip UNC debate

How about encouraging McCrory to pick Munger for a state post, and cast your much needed vote for Pat McCrory! I like Munger too, but this race needs to win badly!

Re: Perdue to skip UNC debate

What a coward. She has officially lost my vote. Hello, Mr. Munger!

Re: "Back-Out Bev"

And by the way...what happened to

"Let's have a positive campaign for NC's future...that's why I'm running for Governor"

No positive campaign...no debate....what's left????

"Back-Out Bev"

"Back-Out Bev"!!!!

This is unbelievable. She accuses McCrory of being a Jim Black ally yesterday and now won't participate in the only statewide debate?

I think this is a very weak and defensive move on her part.

Why does her campaign launch all kinds of negative and false attacks against McCrory but is afraid to have a discussion about the issues?

To my knowledge this would be the only debate between the candidates that would air statewide.

How can the person seeking our state’s top position not make this a priority? If she believes she’s the best person for the job and has the best ideas for our state shouldn’t she want this kind of exposure?

I think the answer is obvious. McCrory’s campaign theme: The difference is leadership.

I'm obviously biased in my support for McCrory but does anyone else think her "duck out" shows a serious lack of leadership?

Re: Perdue to skip UNC debate

She's skipping out BECAUSE it WILL BE TELEVISED STATEWIDE!!! That is what she has fought all along!

Her past is catching up with her FAST!!! The fact that she refuses to debate on THIS one is a true testament to her failure. She does NOT DESERVE the VOTE of ANY patriotic NC citizen!!!

Re: Perdue to skip UNC debate

I don't particularly think that anyone whose advertising strategy includes placing fliers on my car is a serious candidate worth debating for Governor of North Carolina. Munger, weight loss pills, discount gym memberships and the "hottest club event ever, going down TONITE!": I'm looking at you.

Re: Perdue to skip UNC debate

Of course she is going to skip the debate. The more she talks, the less appealing she is to voters.

Perdue Cuts and Runs Again

I'm sure Bev Perdue is going to have a 'fabulous' time working with Sewell Wednesday evening, to discuss how to coverup this latest scandal.

Re: Perdue to skip UNC debate

Has anyone asked the Lt. Governor what she is doing Wednesday night that is more important than communicating with the very people she hopes to serve as Governor? This pattern of inaccessibility is one of the reasons we need to change the culture of state government.
