Perdue inaugural schedule set

Gov.-elect Beverly Perdue's inaugural committee has released the full schedule of public events for the new governor's oath-taking, from prayer to party.

The public events are:

Friday, Jan. 9:

10:30 a.m. - A prayer and worship service at the First Baptist Church at the corner of Wilmington and Morgan streets in downtown Raleigh.

Saturday, Jan. 10:

10 a.m. - Pre-inaugural concert on the steps of the state library.

10:30 a.m. - Inaugural ceremonies for Gov.-elect Perdue and the Council of State, the top, statewide elected officials, such as lieutenant governor and attorney general.

12:30 p.m. - Inaugural parade on Fayetteville Street

2:30 p.m. - Open house at the Executive Mansion

Several other ticketed events, including the inaugural ball, have been organized by the Junior League of Raleligh.

How odd that the Jr. League would be a part of this spectacle. WHAT is THEIR connection?
