Pearce changes his mind

Gary Pearce has changed his mind.

The longtime Democratic consultant says he now thinks Democrats will win the three big races for president, Senate and governor.

"I'm switching," he writes Dome. "After looking at polls and early vote totals this weekend, I think Dems will win the big three in N.C."

Re: Obama supports Perdue

Imagine that , a longtime democrat consultant changing his mind!!!

Re: Obama supports Perdue

It don't matter who Obama supports, only who the voters support. Do you think Obama cares if its a obama/McCrory vote he gets. I think not, only that he gets the vote.

Obama supports Perdue

Obama supports Perdue - Fact; plain and simple.

change in both capitals needed!!

For what it is worth - NC's Constitution requires a balanced budget...so democrats can't take credit for that.

I am worried about both capitals - which is why I am a proud supporter for OBAMA in the White House and McCRORY in the governor's mansion!!

We need selective change......not here but up there!

Top ten reasons not to change anything in Raleigh:

10. McCrory might take the cheap trips to Europe. Cheap caviar is vile and nasty!
9. McCrory might not continue to invest in education in the same stupid way we do now.
8. McCrory might like to change the rules of the game, the rules we wrote so no one else could win.....no one else could even play. It's our government and our rules!
7. McCrory might open up government and upset the stupid voters who would not understand how we do things.
6. McCrory isn’t one of us. He’s one of them. They are bad and we are good. (He's a westerner. You know how they are....educated. Got a pro football team up there. Very bad people...westerners. Cowboys, everyone of them. Non-conformists. Troublebmakers. Mind of their own. Ask a lot of questions. Even got some of their own ideas. Outside agitators. We don't need their kind in Raleigh.)
5. McCrory might mess up the deal we got going with DOT. We don’t know exactly what the deal is ourselves but he’d be sure to mess it up.
4. McCrory probably wouldn’t even let us call him “Dumplin.” Why change that? He’d probably call us some names. Ingrate!
3. Why change anything at all? Isn’t everybody happy with the way things are going? Quality cheeseburgers. We ain’t buying that plane…..until after the election. We giving more money to recruit industry than to just about anything.
2. McCrory thinks just because he is a good debater and says things clearly that he would be effective in Raleigh. Bull! Saying things clearly in Raleigh is stupid. And we don’t debate. A few of us get together and decide what the voters need, regardless of what the voters want, and then do it. That is the way government should work (for us.) We don’t need no change. Status quo……push the button, Bev!

1. McCrory might get out and talk to the people of the state. He’d probably get around and shake hands with people. The people of this state are serfs and should be treated as such. The Governor is royalty and does not need to soil his hands on the rowdy masses, the unruly mobs, the rabble. Our Governor should remain aloof and royal. Let’s not change that. Let’s keep the people in their place. And shaking hands with poor people spreads germs and head lice.

Re: Obama for McCrory

It's interesting that folks like Isaac and danbesse recognize that there are problems in Raleigh and that reform needs to take place. While the problems in DC are more severe, do you really expect that our problems, including a $2billion deficit are going to disappear with NC's secretive & status quo form of ruling.

Maybe Obama is the change we need in DC. But Beverly is NOT the change we need for Raleigh. It will be just the same insanity as before.

Give Mayor McCrory a chance. 7 terms in Charlotte have served that city pretty well.

Re: Pearce changes his mind

We've balanced the budget, but we're facing a huge budget deficit next year. We are investing in education, but we have a 33% drop out rate. There have been numberous members of your party sent to jail in the last 8 years. It's time for a change.

Re: Pearce changes his mind

Pearce has nothing to base his decision on. Ticket splitting is a big thing going on.

Re: Pearce changes his mind

Soc, let's assume for the purpose of argument that your basic conclusion is right.

Here's the difference: Washington under Bush has driven our nation to disaster--the economy is in shambles, the national debt has doubled, we're mired in two wars with our international reputation in shreds, and we're moving backwards on health care coverage.

Meanwhile, Raleigh under Democrats has its problems, but our budget is always balanced, we lead the nation in industrial recruitment (even swimming against the national tide of Bush economic disaster), and we're investing in education.

I know which capital I'm more worried about changing on an urgent basis. If you don't, you're not paying attention to the facts.

Re: Obama for McCrory

It seems that change for Washington is Obama while change for Raleigh is Pat McCrory. We will just get more of the same with Bev.

Obama for McCrory

I just listened to a radio ad for Obama and his points were:
- We must stop divisive politics that pits region against region
- We have to curb the power of those currently in control
- We must work as one
- It's time for a change

If that is what he believes, there is no way that he is supporting Beverly.
