GOP congressional candidate Ilario Pantano has released an internal campaign poll showing him with a 48-21 percent lead over his opponent, state Sen. David Rouzer for the 7th district seat.
The survey by Conquest Communications polled 350 likely Republican voters on January 28th, according to the campaign.
“You folks are fed up with with career politicians and insider deals and you, the people are making your voices heard,” Pantano said in a statement.
In response, Rouzer released a statement, saying, “With more than $221,000 cash on hand, far exceeding that of my opponent, we re well positioned to make up significant ground and win this race. It is no surprise that my opponent would release a poll on the day that fundraising reports are due to distract from his campaign's cash on hand.”
Pantano reported having $8,912 on hand at the end of the year.
“We have not run any ads nor sent any voter mail,” Rouzer said. “The real race will begin in March after filing is completed.”
The winner in the May 8th primary will take on Democratic incumbent Mike McIntyre in a district that the legislature has made more Republican-leaning during the redistricting process.
