Orr: McCain for President '08

Bob Orr has endorsed John McCain.

The announcement this afternoon came a day after Mitt Romney suspended his campaign for the nomination, leaving McCain with a commanding lead over his remaining rival, Mike Huckabee.

"I believe now is the time to begin the coordinated effort to help make sure that we elect a Republican president," Orr said in a statement.

It is unusual for a gubernatorial candidate to make a presidential endorsement before the primary race is settled because of the political risks usually involved.

Still, Orr had earlier let it be known that he liked Romney.

He donated $500 in October to attend a fundraiser and meet with the former Massachusetts governor, calling him "an exceptionally bright guy, obviously very capable."

Much too early for Orr to make such a claim...who cares? Wish he supported Dr. Ron Paul the only true conservative running.

Wonder if Mike Huckabee will try to appeal Judge Orr's decision on the GOP nomination...

Re: Orr: McCain for President '08

I guess he's saying that Orr shouldn't have endorsed anyone, seeing as how one could make a similar statement about Huckabee.

Re: Orr: McCain for President '08

Ok so you expect a Republican candidate for governor to endorse a Democrat for president?

Politics do not become the good judge

After years of being seen as a independent-minded thinker, Orr's run for the roses has brought out the man's worst qualities. His desire to continue the disastrous rein of Republican incompetence in Washington is mind-boggling.

John McCain - aka Bush III - is the last thing this nation needs, and Bob Orr's publicity stunt doesn't change that one bit.
