So President Barack Obama’s having a shindig tonight at the White House for the big game.
The Chicago Bulls, 44-18, are coming to the Queen City to take on the Charlotte Bobcats, who are 26-37.
The White House hasn’t released the guest list yet, but Sheri Strickland, president of the N.C. Association of Educators union, tweeted last night that she would be at tonight’s party, taking along NCAE Vice President Rodney Ellis.
Charlotte Democrat U.S. Rep. Mel Watt will be there. Biscoe Democrat U.S. Rep. Larry Kissell will be there. So will U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan, a Democrat from Greensboro. Hagan is bringing as her guest Shaw University president Irma McLaurin.
The Shaw Bears men’s and women’s teams both just won championships last weekend at the CIAA tournament in Charlotte.

The White House says the guest list is bipartisan and includes those in Congress who represent Charlotte, but we haven’t heard back from Republican U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick of Charlotte or Sen. Richard Burr of Winston-Salem to find out whether they’re going.
There will be guests from Obama’s hometown too, including Chicago-area members of Congress. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
