Obama up with new China trade ad

The presidential campaign of Barack Obama has begun airing a new commercial in which says the president took action against Chinese unfair trade practices and for which he was criticized by GOP candidate Mitt Romney.

It is part of a continuing battle over the air waves about which candidate is tough on China when it comes to trade. The ad is being aired nationally on cable including in North Carolina.

UPDATE: Robert Reid, Romney spokesman: “Just like he has on so many other issues, President Obama is leading from behind on taking on China. President Obama promised to stand up to China and take them ‘to the mat,’ but instead he has allowed China to treat the United States like a doormat. Mitt Romney will instead stand up for American workers, protect our intellectual property rights, and make sure that China plays by the rules.”
