Obama takes the stage

Barack Obama was introduced by an unemployed woman.

After Gov. Mike Easley introduced them, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee and Pamella Cash-Roper took the stage at the N.C. State Fairgrounds.

Cash-Roper, a lifelong Republican, told the crowd that she and her husband are struggling because of medical problems, losing their jobs and the high price of gas and prescription drugs.

"The help we always thought would be there was somehow nowhere to be seen," he said.

Obama then thanked her.

"Its not always easy to share stories of hardship," he said. "I'm very grateful to her."

Correction: An earlier version of this post misspelled Cash-Roper's name.

Re: Obama takes the stage

look if you are a nurse, then why didn't you have good health insurance after your husband lost his job? I don't understand. and then if you "had" your health, then are you to have us believe that Bush and McCain zapped you and your husband and made you fat and gave you both heart problems? or could it be all the food you ate while you were living the American dream? I think your whole story is total BS! I mean I believe you both had heart surgery, but I think its all your own fault. you have no one to blame but yourself, and it is just pitiful that you're blaming it all on the government. don't write me back, I don't think I could handle any more crap tonight.

Re: Obama takes the stage

Apologies for the confusion is not quite good enough ...now because you guys couldn't get your story straight I get to put up with the crazies out there who have nothing better to do then look folks up and call them. Thanks a lot for calling me a liar...the only liar here is the N&O.

Re: Obama takes the stage

OR a fourth thing could be true that you did not take the time to really look up your information before you posted a lie. As you can see from the other posts..I have been a registered Republican since 01/27/1972, I was born and raised here and have been a life long registered Republican...NOW WHERE IS the retraction AND where is my apology for being called a phony the only phony here is YOUR information.

Re: Obama takes the stage

So all the junk written here is just that junk ... how many people take the information here and believe it as truth. How sad that people can lie when you "blunted" and I took the time to find the FACTS....thank you for searching for truth!

Perhaps you should look closer at the Board of Elections...you have called me a phony..I say you are a liar....I am and have been a registered voter in the county of Chatham since 01/27/1972. Now...where is the apology for calling me a phony, a liar, a fraud....Yes this lie perpetrated by fellow Republicans has gone world wide...sooooooo...who has egg on their face...not me ....my only indiscretion is to not have changed my address where we move recently

Re: Obama takes the stage

You have some more digging to do. If Pamella Cash-Roper has lived in Chatham County for at least 4 years, she voted in the Democrat 2nd primary since the SBOE shows that she did vote and there were no Republican contests in Chatham County for the 2nd Primary. The only contest was the runoff for the Democratic primary in the Superintendent of Public Instruction. She is only a lifelong Republican if she is less than 4 years old and then she could register to vote. If you are going to let the Democrats trot this woman out to tell a lie without question, why do I suspect that the Democrat candidates will have it easy with you? This story has gone worldwide because it "fits the template".

Re: Obama takes the stage

That's because her name is spelled Pamella Cash-Roper. She is a registered Republican in Chatham County. I misspelled the name in the post earlier. My apologies for any confusion.

Re: Obama takes the stage

According to the NC GOP, there is no Pamela Cash Roper who is a "lifelong Republican."

"From a search of voter registration information at the State Board of Elections website, there is no Pamela Cash Roper who is a registered Republican in North Carolina. There are 5 people named Pamela Roper. Three of them are Democrats and two are unaffiliated. Therefore one of these things must be true: Pamela Cash Roper is not a Republican, she is not from North Carolina, or she is not a registered voter."
