Barack Obama was introduced by an unemployed woman.
After Gov. Mike Easley introduced them, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee and Pamella Cash-Roper took the stage at the N.C. State Fairgrounds.
Cash-Roper, a lifelong Republican, told the crowd that she and her husband are struggling because of medical problems, losing their jobs and the high price of gas and prescription drugs.
"The help we always thought would be there was somehow nowhere to be seen," he said.
Obama then thanked her.
"Its not always easy to share stories of hardship," he said. "I'm very grateful to her."
Correction: An earlier version of this post misspelled Cash-Roper's name.

Re: Obama takes the stage
look if you are a nurse, then why didn't you have good health insurance after your husband lost his job? I don't understand. and then if you "had" your health, then are you to have us believe that Bush and McCain zapped you and your husband and made you fat and gave you both heart problems? or could it be all the food you ate while you were living the American dream? I think your whole story is total BS! I mean I believe you both had heart surgery, but I think its all your own fault. you have no one to blame but yourself, and it is just pitiful that you're blaming it all on the government. don't write me back, I don't think I could handle any more crap tonight.
