Re: Obama rally in Raleigh
The crowd of 25,000 rocked Halifax Square in support of the Barack Obama in downtown Raleigh, NC. With only six days to go in the election Obama’s very presence stood as testament to North Carolina’s importance in the upcoming elections. The message to the crowd of strong Obama supporters was simple: vote early and spread Obama’s message. In the speech Obama went as far as describing how to convince an undecided neighbor to vote for him. The purpose of the event was unmistakably to energize area Obama supporters enough to help deliver the state on Election Day.
Upon leaving Halifax Square the attendees of the rally were clearly electrified, and the Obama campaign stood ready to capture that energy. Hundreds of event volunteers stood ready to sign up individuals for canvassing and phone banking. Local apparel vendors also seized the opportunity. It appeared that the rally was a success for the Obama campaign because as the crowd exited it seemed that Obama had enlisted 25,000 new foot soldiers. With state polls showing a close race, the Democratic Candidate will need all the help he can get to change this historically red state.
