Obama launches N.C. voter drive

Barack Obama has launched a voter registration drive for North Carolinians.

In a page on his campaign Web site, the Democratic presidential candidate has links to download voter registration forms, volunteer to phone bank or canvass, e-mail your friends and share your voting story.

The last is the most touchy-feely, inviting users to share their experience voting for the first time or becoming re-engaged by the Obama campaign.

It's also a pretty obvious attempt to drum up the kind of testimonials that political campaigns love to tout on their Web sites and in their flyers.

According to an e-mail to supporters from the campaign, the drive is aimed at younger voters.

"Statistics show that if we can get young people to vote Democratic now, they are far more likely to vote regularly -- and vote for Democrats -- throughout their lives," it says.

The drive is well-timed, coming on the day that voters may begin requesting absentee ballots, and two days before a visit by Obama.

Re: Obama launches N.C. voter drive

I observed Obama campaigning in Pennsylania on Monday. After his presentation he took questions from the audience and listening to his
reponses Obama made a committment to take care of the problems. I don't see this as being realistic. You are not going to be able to solve everyone's prolem in America when you have major issues on the agenda and a short time to resolve them.

Democrat voters are what has RUINED our once great state, along with supremely CORRUPT 'leaders' like Jim Hunt, and Mike Easely, and PLENTY of others in EVERY county in the state.
