Re: Nine seek Malone's empty seat

wow, lots of energy spent fact checking Ryan.

Re: Nine seek Malone's empty seat

Marlowe Foster ran for Winston-Salem City Council in 2001, not 2002. As in many municipalities, Winston-Salem's city elections are in odd-numbered years.

His opponent in the 2001 race was incumbent Vernon Robinson. It was a close vote in a low turnout contest, probably depressed by Robinson's negative campaign messages attacking Foster.

Re: Nine seek Malone's empty seat

That is wrong Nate. Carol Bennet lost to Vernon Malone in the General Election in 2008. So says her website and so says the Board of Elections.

Re: Nine seek Malone's empty seat

Lightner is not the President of the Raleigh-Wake Citizens Association. The current RWCA President is Daniel Coleman.
Malone's GOP opponent in 2008 was Venita Peyton not Bennett.

Re: Nine seek Malone's empty seat

Isn't Bennett a Republican?

Oh wait a second! The Raleigh Wake Citizens Association is making a recommendation to the Democrats who will decide who the governor appoints? And Lightner is the chairman of this group and he is in the running for the senate seat also? What a inside single special interest play if he gets it. That would prove how corrupt the Democratic Party is locally. I hope he gets it.

Blue?!?

He would be tremendous; is he really interested?
