New Hanover commissioner posed threat to Gov. McCrory at event

A New Hanover County commissioner is being asked to resign after a series of threatening behavior that spilled into an event with Gov. Pat McCrory on Thursday.

The Wilmington Star-News reported that Commissioner Brian Berger posed a security threat to the governor's security team during a visit to a groundbreaking ceremony at Cape Fear Community College: "After McCrory's speech, Berger was standing by the governor's convoy and banging on the windows of the vehicles, according to a member of the security team. The vehicles were empty, but he was yelling and demanding a meeting with McCrory. The security team escorted Berger out and the convoy was given an alternate safe route out of town to avoid any other altercations, officials said."

It prompted the board chairman to call for Berger to resign. Read more here.
