NCAE mailer attacks Moore

The N.C. Association of Educators is attacking Richard Moore.

In a mailer received by some voters this week, the teachers' group argues that the Democratic gubernatorial candidate has not managed the state pension fund as well as claimed.

It argues that Moore has "lagged behind his peers in pension management performance," failed to provide the legislature with reports on performance of money managers and supported cuts to Social Security, Medicare and military retirement.

Last week, Moore's rival, Beverly Perdue, said she would not run negative ads as part of her campaign and was asking supporters to stay positive as well.

The NCAE has endorsed Perdue, and its parent organization, the National Education Association, has run positive radio ad on her behalf.

Moore's campaign argue the flier shows that Perdue is just letting others do her dirty work.

"Perdue's pledge was a short-lived fraud," said campaign manager Jay Reiff in a statement.

Re: NCAE mailer attacks Moore

The NCAE should focus on education and take a look at how well Bev Perdue's people did in running the NC Virtual Schools this past summer.
