The North Carolina Republican Party said it contacted a record number of voters Saturday, as part of its out reach effort.
GOP officials said nearly 3,000 volunteers made 110,000 calls and knocked on more than 90,000 doors on on what it called “Tarheel Turnout” Saturday. Besides making 200,000 voter contacts on Saturday, the party said it made 500,000 voter contacts for all of last week.
They said they saw a spike in volunteers after last week's presidential debate, in which most neutral observers said was won by Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

the only problem is...
October 8, 2012 - 5:20pm — Jackson_TybeeThey were contacting a whole lot of voters who are voting for the other side -- it was driving my friends crazy. They were getting four to six calls from GOP phone bankers a day yet they were die hard Democrats with voting histories of voting in Democratic primaries. Something must be wrong with the GOP's voter contact software.
In general, I think calling voters is becoming counterproductive for both sides. People are absolutely sick of all the calls.
