NAACP calls for removal of GOP ad

The state chapter of the NAACP today demanded the removal of a recent ad by the N.C. Republican Party.

The chapter was referring to the ad that attacks Democratic gubernatorial candidates Richard Moore and Beverly Perdue, and uses video of Barack Obama's former minister, Jeremiah Wright, to criticize their endorsement of Obama, reports Titan Barksdale.

Rev. William Barber II, president of the state's chapter, said the ad injects racist politics into the election process, and is meant to be divisive. He defended Wright, saying the video used in the ad takes Wright's comments during a sermon out of context.

"This ad is a snippet of a very thoughtful and profound sermon," Barber said. "Rev. Wright's messages are not much different from the messages being preached in many North Carolina churches — black and white."

Barber said the NAACP has sent a letter to Republican chairwoman Linda Daves requesting an explanation of the ad's intent.

Members of the Alliance of N.C. Black Elected Officials, a group of black leaders across the state, also attended the news conference.

Re: NAACP calls for removal of GOP ad

I agree nc4me, the ad is more about whether Obama has exercised good judgment than racism. Obama's the one who has made it about race, trying to explain it away as something that is done commonly in black churches. Maybe it's done commonly in black churches in Chicago, but I haven't seen it before.

Re: NAACP calls for removal of GOP ad

(riots in Denver would also be payback for being an ILLEGAL's 'sanctuary' city)...

Re: NAACP calls for removal of GOP ad

Remember folks, this is the 'NAA L CP'...LIEBERAL colored people! MANY conservative blacks do NOT agree with all this nonsense, and they can see thru all this democrat racial agenda to divide the people.

Thankfully, more and more minorities are seeing what the democrackkks ARE really all about. STRIVE to be SMARTER than a democrackkk.

Re: NAACP calls for removal of GOP ad

Today's over-the-top rant by Rep. Clyburn just finished me off. I'm a progressive democrat Clinton supporter, and I don't appreciate being called a racist and threatened with riots in Denver. Obama expects to be coronated and any opposition must be racist - it can't possibly be that we think he's an inexperienced phony who will win only Illinois in November.

Re: NAACP calls for removal of GOP ad

I agree. In my church we are taught that all men are created equal. God loves everyone. and he loves AMERICA too!

Re: NAACP calls for removal of GOP ad

Who are the naacp to demand anything. I support Ms. Daves and am looking forward to seeing this ad ran. I applaud Ms. Daves for have the guts to stand up to the low belly democrates. If more of our elected officials in Washington had her gall the Republician party would not be in the shameful state that it is in today. As I see it, there are no Republicians running for president this term, only three democrates. I would like to see Ms. Daves run for president. I think I could vote for her!!

Re: NAACP calls for removal of GOP ad

Been to many churches in 53 years, and NEVER have I heard any political sermons.

exactly right DOUBLE STANDARDs are the NORM for CORRUPT democrackkks.

Re: NAACP calls for removal of GOP ad

Double Standard

Why didn't Rev. Barber ask Richard Moore to pull his ad about Bev Purdue not voting for the bill to crack down on the KKK??

That ad actually does inject race into the election. I dont see how the NCGOP ad does.
