MoveOn endorses Marshall

MoveOn has endorsed Secretary of State Elaine Marshall in the June 22nd Democratic Senate primary.

The endorsement came after 70 percent of the liberal group voted to back Marshall over former state Sen. Cal Cunningham, Rob Christensen reports.

“There's a reason that the majority of North Carolina MoveOn members support Elaine Marshall – she's shown she's willing to stand up for North Carolina families and against big corporations,” said Justin Rubin, the group's executive director. “As Secretary of State, she's taken on Wall Street banks and fought to protect North Carolinians from securities fraud and financial scams,” he said.

MoveOn, formerly known as MoveOn.org, was formed in 1998 to oppose efforts to impeach President Bill Clinton. It supports Democratic candidates and causes.
